Guess what? It's my Birthday!

It's my birthday today!  So excited!  I love getting the posts from everybody on Facebook. Especially when they are like Josie's post!  (See exhibit A.)

Exhibit A. Haha
I also love socks!  Josie got me awesome socks.  My favorite is the pink zebra socks and multi colored leopard print ones. Ah heck. I love all of them!

I also love that in the class I TA my professor gave me a Utah: Life Elevated Calendar.  Thanks Robert! You are awesome!

Then for lunch Josie and I went to the sky room and enjoyed delicious soup and rolls. Yum yum!

Jill and Alexis made me a fantastic card!  And I just love when everybody says "Happy Birthday."  Even if it is a simple phrase - it makes me feel special!

My friends from church (visiting teachers) also made me a delicious yellow cake with chocolate frosting. My favorite!  I love that someone took time out of their day to make me a cake!

Then, while waiting at the post office for my boxes to arrive (presents from mom), I talked on the phone with my sister.  She had a cinnamon roll in my honor. I'm that special. :)

At five o'clock to mailman finally came back from his route and I was able to get my presents! (Long story short I missed him at my apartment so had to wait until he returned from his route and get them from the post office.)  I came right home and had a chance to open the most awesome present ever!  My mom (who is AMAZING) had Becky Zaugg do an oil painting of Windaner and I in front of the house.  It's so fantastic!   I LOVE IT!  I will cherish it forever!!!

Shortly after overcoming present-shock-of-amazingness I headed off to dinner with Josie, Jill, Alexis, Erin, Kourtney, & Caitlin.

We had a fun dinner at Firehouse Pizzeria in Logan and I even got to enjoy a free birthday f'zookie. (Not sure if that is actually the spelling... but it's basic melty cookie goodness and ice-cream!)  Wohoo!  My friends are priceless! I love you all!
L to R: Erin, Caitlin, Alexis, Jill, Kourtney, Josie, and me!
Once dinner was finished I got to come back and open more presents! Love love love.  Mom got me awesome things like gorgeous high heeled shoes, peeps, candy, an awesome card, fancy thin thermals (long-johns), and ski totes (I no longer have to struggle carrying my skis and poles)!!! My aunt Barb even got me a shirt that reads "Eyre University."  Yep. I'm official now!

Then I decided that I finish off my birthday by having mom sing to me and I would get to blow out candles.  She told me I wasn't aloud to put this anywhere "public" but it makes me feel so loved. I just had to put it on here.  :)   And yes. This is all done via Skype.  Don't ya just love technology?!  Also - my commentary cracks me up. Haha. So many candles!

Thanks everybody that made my birthday a special day! I truly feel loved and blessed!  You know who you are and you are awesome.  I had a FANTASTIC day!!  And thanks to my mom who is always there for me!  :)

Travel Bug

I fixed my blog! It looks normal"ish" again. I still have to tweak it some... but thats ok!

I feel like I post on my blog a lot.  Maybe too much?  Is it too much?  Sometimes I think I should write crazy stories or post inspiration thoughts. But really that's not me.  So if you still read my blog I hope that you find it somewhat entertaining or at least a little interesting.

Other thoughts on my mind... travel!  Oh I have the travel bug bad. So bad. I just want to hop on a flight to somewhere warm or exotic. Just travel. No worries. I'm not going to randomly jump up and run away. I'd like to graduate this semester.  Then maybe go somewhere! Haha. If nothing else I hope to travel during Spring Break!

And it's finally snowing!

That's all for now.  And I'm making cookies. :)

Don't Panic

So... don't panic about the random background change. I am trying to upload a new background but Blogger is being stupid and won't let me. So maybe I'll try about tomorrow.  And what the heck is with all this water and flooding?  Weird weather patterns.....

Ski the Beav

In celebration of Martin Luther King Day, and the fact that I didn't have school, I went skiing up at Beaver. First time up at the Beav this season and it felt good.  Wish the snow pack was better and less ice on the runs, but overall heaps of good fun. Tonight... Zumba.

Makin' some tracks.
Yep. Bathroom picture. My fingers
were getting cold constantly taking
off my gloves.
Snow! Kinda...

Wishing I could Ride

This is just one of those days I was wishing I could go out and ride my horse.  Unfortunately none of my horses are here in Utah.  Guess I'll stick to watching old westerns and doing my homework.

-2... what?!

I think I dislike the fact that when I walked to work this morning at 7:30am it was 7 degrees but felt like -2.  No wonder I was freezing!  And the sun is very deceiving... It looks like it should be pretty warm outside. Until you actual walk outside and realize that it's really cold!
Let's see.  Classes are going well and I'm surviving.  And it's a three day weekend! Which is really exciting except I wish there was snow so I could get in some killer skiing.  In the mean time I'll zumba.  Yep.  I'm taking Zumba classes (thank you Josie for the brilliant idea!) and they are amazing!  Hopefully this will help get me shape, not to mention teach me how to move my hips! Haha.

I think that's all I am going to write for now. I'm sure something interesting will happen over the weekend. I kind of want to go see the movie Joyful Noise.  And I want to ski.  And I need to do laundry, but that's not really interesting or exciting.

What's New, Cupcake?

This post is for Lisa. My other favorite sister (as you said on Facebook). Who is awesome. And who also informed me I never blog about her.  ;)

Lisa and her son Seamus came over after Christmas to Union to see everyone.  I was really excited to see her and give her my Christmas present.  Air Steam cookie cutters anyone?  She also gave me this awesome book called What's New, Cupcake? This book has the coolest cupcakes EVER and one of my New Year's Resolution is to make every one of them in the book! (Except the rat cupcakes... because they are kind of scary lookin!) She also gave me everything I need to make awesome cupcakes!  Wow.  It's 7:30am in the morning and I am getting really hungry talking about cupcakes!

Lisa opening her presents! (Sorry the pic is so dark...)

Everyone in the living room
Hopefully Lisa had a good time and I'm glad that she could come over after Christmas and see us! And hopefully she reads this post because it's all for her!

Did I mention she is awesome? And makes makes amazing food!

Monday, January 9, 2012

I survived my first day of school (of my last semester)!  I worked all morning... had classes all afternoon... then more classes... and finished my last class at 9:00pm.  Whew!  I'm actually dropping a class on Monday and replacing it with a capstone class, so now I'll only have 4 classes on Monday! I'll still be on campus from 7:30am till 9 o'clock, but life will be better.  (To be honest, I actually really like my late night Monday class - should be one of the best this semester!)

Tomorrow till Friday my schedule is more relaxed so I should be able to get some stuff done. And go skiing over the three-day weekend!  Although where the heck is the snow? Can Logan get dumped on so Beav will have some good powder?

I wish I had something else interesting to blog about but I really don't. Except I am glad to be back at work! My boss is the best person ever! I saw everyone I work with today except Sydney, so it was great.  Shout out to my friend Jill who is engaged... her ring is amazing! And Alexis who I played Ticket to Ride (awesome board game) with today!  And Josie who finally got her Christmas present!

Back to 'Bama

Well mom's off to Boise with Heidi, David and the kids (Erin, Daniel, Bow, and Jaeyong).  Then mom will drop them off at the airport tomorrow where they'll fly back to Alabama.  I'm sad to see my sister go... but I get to see her in May when I graduate!

Today was a fun last day though because I got to take Erin and Bow horseback riding! I hope that they had fun!

Just a few more days at home then back to school at Utah State to finish my degree.

Love my sister!

Hiking the Hill

Yesterday we went hiking up the hill across the road for fun.  We got to see the horses and I caught Jim (the giant draft horse) and played around with him.  He was so funny because he was so nosey with his lips.  He kept trying to get into my pocket so I let him nibble on my chap stick.  So funny!  Apparently he's not a fan of chap stick smell!
Catching Jim

We made the huge loop, saw six deer bouncing up the hill, walked on the foundation of the old Catherine Creek school house, and I even found a deer shed!

Not a fan of chap stick. Haha.

My "Fake" Birthday & Grandma's Real Birthday

Heidi decided that I should have an early birthday party so she could celebrate before they went back to Alabama.  Unfortunately the stove died.  Really died.  So we made a cake in the microwave! It worked well except the middle sank in and didn't cook!  Haha!  It was the DMZ of chocolate frosting. Epic.

At least we celebrated on the 2nd.  It has a two in it so it counts.

Horse Pottery (Bowl and Mug!)
Ticket to Ride! Best game ever!
Heidi and David
Then on the 4th we celebrated Grandma's birthday at Pizza hut.  Yummy pizza.  Good family time!

Dad and I!
Only 19 days till my real birthday. Wohoo!

New Year's Resolutions

Twelve new year's resolutions for the year 2012.
1.  Travel. Generally speaking this shouldn't be too hard. Especially since spring semester means Spring Break... which is the perfect opportunity for a little travel.
2.  Graduate from Utah State.
3. Workout on a somewhat regular basis.  Really I just want a six pack/rock hard stomach. And great biceps.
4. Make time during school for things that I love to do.
5. Work during the summer and really dig into the outfitting and horse camp.  I want to make this business fly.
6. Spend more time with family and friends.
7. Live life without regrets.
8. Memorize campfire songs for my guitar.
9.  Figure out how to correctly play the didgeridoo.
10.  Make all the cupcakes in my cupcake book... except the rat cupcakes.  Those scare me.
11. Break little Misty to ride... and break in some of the horses from across the rode. Those wild things.
12. Knit a hat.

Sledding Hill

Just up the road we have a fantastic sledding hill.  We also have an old toboggan. And a dog. And 8 people. So much fun! I think these pictures speak better than words.

Erin and Bow sliding down the hill.
Go Bow!!
Bow and Jaeyong flying down the slopes!
Scout the amazing sled dog!
Heidi. Bow. And ME!  Awesome speed!

Elk Viewing

We thought it would be fun to take the kids to see some elk while we were here.  Since Bow is from Thailand and Jaeyong is from South Korea they have never seen elk. Especially since they are staying with my sister, her husband, and their two kids (Erin and Daniel) in Alabama. It's not exactly cold here so the elk weren't down low - only a few cows and a scared calf that ran away when the wagon came round.

It was fun to go on a wagon ride and especially nice that some elk made an appearance. It was funny though because we had elk right out in front of our house in the morning before we left.  Yet we still went and paid to go see elk on a wagon. Haha.

Pretty horses!

Christmas 2011

I was going to post some pictures from Christmas sooner but I forgot, so here's some pictures from Christmas!

Dad and his "lap dog" Lucky.
Oh... cute family photo!
Woohoo! They say my name!
And my new chaps!
And our giant Christmas tree!

Happy New Year!

Out with 2011 and in with 2012.

It's officially January 1st 2012 and I have spent all day with my family playing games and whatnot.  (I should mention that it's almost Jan. 2nd, so I figured I should hurry up and write this post before the clock strikes midnight!)

Since it's the beginning of a new year I thought I would reflect on some of the great memories I had from 2011.  Some of these seem like forever ago and yet some seem like they happened just yesterday.

Spending my 21st birthday in Alabama with my sister was Awesome.  I could write a whole book on Australia... so I'll simply leave it as my adventures down under. Summer. Having my awesome friend Smash come visit me! Horses.  Family.  Spending time with friends. Arizona.  Random trips to Angie's for food and good times. Seeing my friends graduate.  Six classes later I finish the semester with five A's and a B+.  Work. I love work and my awesome co-workers. Yes Jill. Alexis. Josie. Jordan. Patsy. Sydney. You all are amazing!  Christmas tree cutting. Basketball games. CNR socials.  Oh geez this list could go on forever, but I'll stop.

So here's to making 2012 amazing!  Cheers mate and a happy new year to you!
