Deck the Halls

Deck the halls with:

Family
Food
Dogs
Presents
And rain. (Wait.. what?)

Yep. Rain. Good ol' Oregon rain.  I have to admit that I don't like the rain, but I would much rather have snow than rain. So snow already!

And... I can't believe that December is almost over. I love rolling into a new year, except I always have one problem.  For the first few months of the new year I can't ever remember to write the correct year.  Especially now that we are going to go from 2010 to 2011.

I wish that Blogger had a more efficient way of posting pictures because I think I have an obsession with pictures.  Especially now that I got a new camera for Christmas (thanks dad!).  So check out some of the pictures below (caution... there are a lot!).

Lucky Dog.  Most likely begging for treats.
Lisa and Dad.
Best picture ever! Haha.  Little squished dad?
Amazing garnet ring from my mom.  =)

Look. I'm sitting next to the tree!
The house is glowing!
Mom  by the tree!

Now that you've had a chance to look at the pictures I've taken so far, look at one last picture.  This is Misty.  She's my project for the next several years. Isn't she cute?!  I have a feeling that she will make a good horse one day.  Misty isn't even two yet, but I can already saddle and cinche her up good.  Throw a bridle in her mouth and walk around the ranch.  Now she just needs to get big enough I can ride her and really start to break her.

Fall 2010

So I'm going to take this opportunity to boast about my grades... just a little. I just wanted to say I pulled off all A's.  (And one B-.)

Thus I am happy.

White Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope that all of my family and friends are in the company of those they love and are ready for Christmas to arrive.  (Like woah... I can't believe it's here already.)  We have snow on the ground here but the wind blows it into drifts, leaving unsightly patches of bare ground in the fields. But I can't complain too much. It could be much colder and miserable.

Also, I've recently determined that I should take up cross country skiing.  I'm thinking snow can be utilized by more than just downhill skiing and snowmobiling. Plus, Oregon has some amazing places that I would love to see via ski. There are some great places to ski in the Wallowas and I would love to spend time exploring around our lodge (Cornucopia Lodge).

Let's see. Other interested things that have happened??  Flash mob in the Boise mall.

Check it.

Tired

It's only Tuesday and I'm tired.

Of school.  But more so because of finals.

Finished my applied economics final today. Not too bad.  Statistics final tomorrow.  *Gulp*  I'm not really ready for it.  So I'm going to study... forever.  Not really. But at least till ten or eleven tonight. I would stay up later, but seeing that my final is at 7:30 in the morning, I value sleep.

Picture from an adventure to Panda express with Jill yesterday. I look tired.  It's an amazing photo. I know.

Better get back to work (aka studying) now. I'll post again if I manage to live through statistics and wildland recreation behavior. Actually I love that class. But the final scares me. Like all tests do.

Almost There

I'm almost there. Almost done to be correct. Just one week of finals left. Ekk! But I'm calmly studying (but obviously not right now since I'm writing. But I will. Except later when I plan on going Christmas shopping for the family/friends.) After school is done, I'll head home.  Then later to the land down under.

So during "dead week" (which is funny because it often requires the most work) I managed to make several great accomplishments:

 1) Getting recognized in English 2010 for writing a research paper on how participating in outdoor recreation can help students reap mental and physical health benefit during the school week and stressful times in their lives. And yes, I got a cool certificate... although they spelled my name wrong. But admittedly it was fun to stand on stage and realize I can actually write decent things.

 2) Writing the best research essay in my upper level Wildland Recreation Behavior class.  My professor, Monz, even wants to use it as an example for his future classes.  I have to say - I am really proud of myself for this one. Especially since I wrote about the Eagle Cap Wilderness and managing horse and packstock impacts. Something very near and dear to my heart.  And thank you to Shawna Meldrum for being an amazing partner in crime! And for sticking with me as we did this!  If you are daring enough to read this just click here and you will be directed to the online PDF version.

3) Cache Symphony Orchestra concert. Love Christmas music!

4)  Cosmic bowling. Candy canes. Cupcakes. Taking 2nd place! Gift certificate. =)

5) Decorating the College of Natural Resources tree in the atrium with my CNR council friends. Best looking tree if I do say so myself. I'm everyone got together to celebrate the holiday season together.

6) The Quinney Library Christmas party was a ton of fun!  Food, musical chairs, doing a completely choreographed version of N'Sync's "Bye Bye Bye" for Carrie, and white elephant gift exchange.

To all of my Quinney's: I  you.

So as school is wrapping up I feel like my whole world is wrapping up as well.  With study aboard and all... I won't be here next semester (technically next year). I am going to miss all of my friends and this is rather depressing thought.

I'll miss my USU friends.
To name a few:

Jen.
Rachel.
Chantry.
Shawna.
Alexis.
Alex.
Apes.
Austin.
Scott.
Haylee.
Hesper.
Jake.
Brittney.
Mercer.
Faculty & Professors too.... Especially everyone in the ENVS department!

(Any everyone else who I didn't type because my fingers are getting tired... I ♥ you too. No worries!)

Well, now it's back to the grind of studying for finals then Christmas shopping.  Guess I should eventually pack and prepare for the next journey in life.  I'll keep you posted on finals and life as it progresses.

Shakespeare

It's not often that I feel like reading Shakespeare. But sometimes one must feel the passion from his words. Here are some of my favorite Shakespearean quotes.

We are such stuff
As dreams are made on;
and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep.

A horse, a horse! My kingdom for a horse!

All the world 's a stage,
and all the men and women merely players.
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts.

Nothing will come of nothing.

T’is neither here nor there.

Be not afraid of greatness:
some are born great,
some achieve greatness and
some have greatness thrust upon them.

To thine own self be true.

Weekend Edition

Well. It's the weekend, which means time for a update.

I guess tomorrow (Sunday) still counts as the weekend. But church, homework, and studying don't sound like fun... thus I'm posting now.

Friday

Look at the icicles that hung outside on my apartment. I measured one at three feet!  I think there was a longer one, but it broke.

So pretty!

Once I was done with work I went skiing at the Beav!  I have been looking forward to skiing since the cold weather set in and now that I've gotten out there, I can say.... I love my new K2s!
Saturday: Spent all day skiing! It was the best!!!!

I absolutely love the snow... it's so much fun flying down the runs.  I'm a little crazy I have to admit. Like skiing the Grand Canyon (Black Diamond) backwards at warp speed. It rocked! By the end of the day I was a little sore, but can't wait to be flying again!  (Maybe I'll actually attempt jumping next time... instead of just catchin' some air. Think a 360 is possible? Haha)

Besides rocking the runs and making sure that I remembering how to ski...  I also expanded my dollar bill talents. Yes. I can make a shirt out of a dollar bill now. (This happened sometime between being bored tonight and eating brownies.)  I personally think it's kind of cool!

Perhaps I should head to bed now.
Or study. But finishing my book sounds like the best option.

By the way: Alexis I ♥ your last post. (I truly do love writing everything fun that you say on my blog!) I am stealing that quote. Right now.

So friendship...
It's the one ship I would and will sail on forever.

Hello December

Umm. It's December 1st today.

Yeesss...

Today will be a good first day of the month.  I graded all the letters for class (hooray!), now I'm at work.  Then I have to actually TA the class. Then I'll go back to my apartment (eat some yummy food) and work on a presentation and other homework.  That should take me the majority of the day...

I have at College of Natural Resources Council meeting later, then I have orchestra practice! I'm so excited to play Christmas music with the orchestra. I'm glad that they asked me to join them.  =)

Alexis (co-worker and awesome friend)  just informed me that coffee calms her down. Perhaps she should get more sleep.  But I guess studying for Organic Chemistry is important.  THis is entertaining.  She just went from telling a story about coffee to saying, "I don't understand how to get this equation!" She didn't even miss a beat.  Now she's talking about blogs.  Every two minutes is a different subject.  And having a leg spasm in between.  I'm glad you're reading this as I write it Alexis.

Quoting Alexis,

"Sp....as...mmmm. That's how I'm going to say it...

What do you think DMSO stands for? Dragons May Seem Oblong?

I can't stop for anything.

I'm glad your writing this is your blog. I should stop speaking!

Your like those people who sit in the court house... Have you see Horton hears a who?
Like when their in the courthouse... and the words get small? And it's really funny! [Hysterically laughing in the background]

Have you ever wondered what it'd be like to have your own theme song?  Like in movies?  Yessss.. it's MY song. [Theme song noises emerge from thin air...] "

Yep.

No one else will find this funny except for Alexis and I.

The best.

Going to be productive now.
