Deck the Halls

Deck the halls with:

And rain. (Wait.. what?)

Yep. Rain. Good ol' Oregon rain.  I have to admit that I don't like the rain, but I would much rather have snow than rain. So snow already!

And... I can't believe that December is almost over. I love rolling into a new year, except I always have one problem.  For the first few months of the new year I can't ever remember to write the correct year.  Especially now that we are going to go from 2010 to 2011.

I wish that Blogger had a more efficient way of posting pictures because I think I have an obsession with pictures.  Especially now that I got a new camera for Christmas (thanks dad!).  So check out some of the pictures below (caution... there are a lot!).

Lucky Dog.  Most likely begging for treats.
Lisa and Dad.
Best picture ever! Haha.  Little squished dad?
Amazing garnet ring from my mom.  =)

Look. I'm sitting next to the tree!
The house is glowing!
Mom  by the tree!

Now that you've had a chance to look at the pictures I've taken so far, look at one last picture.  This is Misty.  She's my project for the next several years. Isn't she cute?!  I have a feeling that she will make a good horse one day.  Misty isn't even two yet, but I can already saddle and cinche her up good.  Throw a bridle in her mouth and walk around the ranch.  Now she just needs to get big enough I can ride her and really start to break her.

Fall 2010

So I'm going to take this opportunity to boast about my grades... just a little. I just wanted to say I pulled off all A's.  (And one B-.)

Thus I am happy.

White Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope that all of my family and friends are in the company of those they love and are ready for Christmas to arrive.  (Like woah... I can't believe it's here already.)  We have snow on the ground here but the wind blows it into drifts, leaving unsightly patches of bare ground in the fields. But I can't complain too much. It could be much colder and miserable.

Also, I've recently determined that I should take up cross country skiing.  I'm thinking snow can be utilized by more than just downhill skiing and snowmobiling. Plus, Oregon has some amazing places that I would love to see via ski. There are some great places to ski in the Wallowas and I would love to spend time exploring around our lodge (Cornucopia Lodge).

Let's see. Other interested things that have happened??  Flash mob in the Boise mall.

Check it.

I though it would be fun to share with you some of my favorite songs.  Or perhaps I should say the songs that are stuck in my head.

Hey Soul Sister - Train/Glee.
Animal - Neon Trees.
Firework - Katy Perry.
Shut Your Eyes - Snow Patrol.
The Cave - Mumford & Sons.
Dog Days are Over - Glee Cast.

It's only Tuesday and I'm tired.

Of school.  But more so because of finals.

Finished my applied economics final today. Not too bad.  Statistics final tomorrow.  *Gulp*  I'm not really ready for it.  So I'm going to study... forever.  Not really. But at least till ten or eleven tonight. I would stay up later, but seeing that my final is at 7:30 in the morning, I value sleep.

Picture from an adventure to Panda express with Jill yesterday. I look tired.  It's an amazing photo. I know.

Better get back to work (aka studying) now. I'll post again if I manage to live through statistics and wildland recreation behavior. Actually I love that class. But the final scares me. Like all tests do.

Almost There

I'm almost there. Almost done to be correct. Just one week of finals left. Ekk! But I'm calmly studying (but obviously not right now since I'm writing. But I will. Except later when I plan on going Christmas shopping for the family/friends.) After school is done, I'll head home.  Then later to the land down under.

So during "dead week" (which is funny because it often requires the most work) I managed to make several great accomplishments:

 1) Getting recognized in English 2010 for writing a research paper on how participating in outdoor recreation can help students reap mental and physical health benefit during the school week and stressful times in their lives. And yes, I got a cool certificate... although they spelled my name wrong. But admittedly it was fun to stand on stage and realize I can actually write decent things.

 2) Writing the best research essay in my upper level Wildland Recreation Behavior class.  My professor, Monz, even wants to use it as an example for his future classes.  I have to say - I am really proud of myself for this one. Especially since I wrote about the Eagle Cap Wilderness and managing horse and packstock impacts. Something very near and dear to my heart.  And thank you to Shawna Meldrum for being an amazing partner in crime! And for sticking with me as we did this!  If you are daring enough to read this just click here and you will be directed to the online PDF version.

3) Cache Symphony Orchestra concert. Love Christmas music!

4)  Cosmic bowling. Candy canes. Cupcakes. Taking 2nd place! Gift certificate. =)

5) Decorating the College of Natural Resources tree in the atrium with my CNR council friends. Best looking tree if I do say so myself. I'm everyone got together to celebrate the holiday season together.

6) The Quinney Library Christmas party was a ton of fun!  Food, musical chairs, doing a completely choreographed version of N'Sync's "Bye Bye Bye" for Carrie, and white elephant gift exchange.

To all of my Quinney's: I  you.

So as school is wrapping up I feel like my whole world is wrapping up as well.  With study aboard and all... I won't be here next semester (technically next year). I am going to miss all of my friends and this is rather depressing thought.

I'll miss my USU friends.
To name a few:

Faculty & Professors too.... Especially everyone in the ENVS department!

(Any everyone else who I didn't type because my fingers are getting tired... I ♥ you too. No worries!)

Well, now it's back to the grind of studying for finals then Christmas shopping.  Guess I should eventually pack and prepare for the next journey in life.  I'll keep you posted on finals and life as it progresses.

It's not often that I feel like reading Shakespeare. But sometimes one must feel the passion from his words. Here are some of my favorite Shakespearean quotes.

We are such stuff
As dreams are made on;
and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep.

A horse, a horse! My kingdom for a horse!
All the world 's a stage,
and all the men and women merely players.
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts.

Nothing will come of nothing.

T’is neither here nor there.

Be not afraid of greatness:
some are born great,
some achieve greatness and
some have greatness thrust upon them.

To thine own self be true.

Weekend Edition

Well. It's the weekend, which means time for a update.

I guess tomorrow (Sunday) still counts as the weekend. But church, homework, and studying don't sound like fun... thus I'm posting now.

Look at the icicles that hung outside on my apartment. I measured one at three feet!  I think there was a longer one, but it broke.

So pretty!

Once I was done with work I went skiing at the Beav!  I have been looking forward to skiing since the cold weather set in and now that I've gotten out there, I can say.... I love my new K2s!
Saturday: Spent all day skiing! It was the best!!!!

I absolutely love the snow... it's so much fun flying down the runs.  I'm a little crazy I have to admit. Like skiing the Grand Canyon (Black Diamond) backwards at warp speed. It rocked! By the end of the day I was a little sore, but can't wait to be flying again!  (Maybe I'll actually attempt jumping next time... instead of just catchin' some air. Think a 360 is possible? Haha)

Besides rocking the runs and making sure that I remembering how to ski...  I also expanded my dollar bill talents. Yes. I can make a shirt out of a dollar bill now. (This happened sometime between being bored tonight and eating brownies.)  I personally think it's kind of cool!

Perhaps I should head to bed now.
Or study. But finishing my book sounds like the best option.

By the way: Alexis I ♥ your last post. (I truly do love writing everything fun that you say on my blog!) I am stealing that quote. Right now.

So friendship...
It's the one ship I would and will sail on forever.

Hello December

Umm. It's December 1st today.

Today will be a good first day of the month.  I graded all the letters for class (hooray!), now I'm at work.  Then I have to actually TA the class. Then I'll go back to my apartment (eat some yummy food) and work on a presentation and other homework.  That should take me the majority of the day...

I have at College of Natural Resources Council meeting later, then I have orchestra practice! I'm so excited to play Christmas music with the orchestra. I'm glad that they asked me to join them.  =)

Alexis (co-worker and awesome friend)  just informed me that coffee calms her down. Perhaps she should get more sleep.  But I guess studying for Organic Chemistry is important.  THis is entertaining.  She just went from telling a story about coffee to saying, "I don't understand how to get this equation!" She didn't even miss a beat.  Now she's talking about blogs.  Every two minutes is a different subject.  And having a leg spasm in between.  I'm glad you're reading this as I write it Alexis.

Quoting Alexis,

"Sp....as...mmmm. That's how I'm going to say it...

What do you think DMSO stands for? Dragons May Seem Oblong?

I can't stop for anything.

I'm glad your writing this is your blog. I should stop speaking!

Your like those people who sit in the court house... Have you see Horton hears a who?
Like when their in the courthouse... and the words get small? And it's really funny! [Hysterically laughing in the background]

Have you ever wondered what it'd be like to have your own theme song?  Like in movies?  Yessss.. it's MY song. [Theme song noises emerge from thin air...] "

No one else will find this funny except for Alexis and I.

The best.

Going to be productive now.

Like woah.

Where did the time go? Are you seriously telling me there are only 25 days till Christmas? Say what? No... I don't believe you. That means... 19 days till the semester ends. My oh my. I'm getting nervous over here!

Lets's see.

I made it back to Utah. After many many hours of driving.  So many hours in fact I may have bruised my hands.  Given it was a freaking blizzard outside I feel lucky to have made it in one piece.  Nuff said about that.

It's currently -5 degrees outside. I think I am going to call this post to an end. Unless there is anything else I can think of...

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

I heading home today! Wish me luck as I drive. In the snow.

While there is a blizzard warning.
This will be an adventure.

At least my friend Lisa is coming with me so I won't have to face I-84 all alone. Hooray. Time to go in ten minutes!

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone!

Snow Day!

Guess what?!?! It's snowing outside! I'm super excited for the snow because that means I will be able to ski soon & I'm also super excited because I only have one class tomorrow and then I get to go home for Thanksgiving! But, admittedly I'm a little nervous because the roads don't look fun to drive on. And since it's a rather long drive on potentially rather poor road conditions I'm a little nervous.  At least my truck has 4-wheel drive...

So I'm sitting here at 7:30am. Posting on my blog.

Watching the snow fall from the sky. And it's really beautiful. And wet.

Do you know what awesome things I did this weekend?

Well not a lot. But I did complete a 10 page (!) research paper with my partner Shawna. We are totally awesome like that!  And it was her birthday on Saturday so I made her a flower hair clip. And a cheesy card. With a horse on it.  =)

I also managed to start working on my economics "stuff."  Aka things I need to know for my test tomorrow morning before I leave.  (I should make sure to get to bed extra early tonight!) Hopefully it shouldn't be too bad.  I have a lot to do today though besides studying for it.  Like finishing a presentation PowerPoint for my wildland behavior class. It'll be a cool slideshow because I am usually all of my own pictures. Why not? After all our management issue is horse and packstock impact in the Eagle Cap Wilderness. And since that's where I live and work it would only make logical sense.

Oh and I think I totally look cute today. Grey snow boots, skinny jeans, cute sweater and awesome purple scarf. Yup. Good clothing day.  Possibly a good hair day too.

Well, I do believe this is all I have to write at the moment. So I'm going to finish my chocolate milk now. The breakfast of champions. (JK. But really...)

Aren't they beautiful?!?!  I think I'm in love... and can't wait to try 'em out!

Spamming + Snow

Today is a day for spamming my blog with posts. I just realized how terribly hypocritical I am.

In all things (it seems...).  Like the fact that I love summer and warmth and hate the cold yet... I love to skiSo, while I would love the white fluffy stuff to fall from the sky, I would love the sun to shine again. Therefore I have determined that this whole "going to Australia thing" will work out perfectly.

School there doesn't start until late February. This means that I can spend all of January on the mountain with my skis then suddenly jump on a plane and land in summertime. Life will be fabulous. Do you know what is also perplexing? Homework. Most of all my economics homework. Sometimes my statistics homework. But never homework for my major. Just saying.  I'm definitely meant to spend 99.9% of my time living and working in the outdoors.

I miss being outside. That's why I love homeI can spend all of my time outside with my horses and my dog, Scout.

I love weekends! Especially when they involve: basketball, friends, and ice-cream.

I cleaned the Sink at Angie's for the first time!  From left to right Jen (Jill's lovely twin), me, Alexis, Jill, and Jill's boyfriend Brian.

Hooray for fun!  I also accomplished watching all of the Harry Potter movies. In case you didn't know, Harry Potter comes out Thursday - the 19th! Call me a wand waving nerd, but I'm kinda excited to go!

Let's see...  I also bought  new pair skis! I'll post a picture of them tomorrow.

Branded and Bowling

Today in my English class we talked about branding.
Not like cattle branding... but advertising branding.

And guess what I discovered.  Apple... you have branded me.  Something about seeing that little apple light up seems to make me happy. Silly I know! But it is true.

Macbook Pro

But I love it. I wouldn't want anything else. Confession: I don't actually have an iPhone, but they look awesome. Verizon, you should hurry about and get the iPhone.  Thanks.

Any who...

Not much else happened today. I ripped my fingernail off while bowling. Talent, I know! But bowling is awesome. Especially when it's one of your classes!

Wish it would get warm. (Hooray for going to the southern hemisphere shortly!)

By the way, I have a brain freeze. But that's from ice-cream. Not the cold weather.

The Start of Something New

Oh yes. Star Trek. Great movie, especially if you're watching it with friends. If you haven't seen the movie I suggest watching. It's witty, funny, action-packed, and has great special effects. Yes. Go watch it. Much like the ship Enterprise, this is my maiden voyage in blogging.

I think I am going to enjoy this whole blogging thing.

I enjoy it. I hope you do to.

I'm funny (I hope...), crazy, adventuresome, always lookin' for a good time.  I'm a country girl. Born and raised. I love to explore. Learn. I  ♥ nature.
              I am from Oregon.
                               Going to Utah State University.
And soon to go to Southern Cross University in Australia.

So, I think I will call this a successful first post. Perhaps I will go back to work now. By the way... Life is good.

and my new background:
